Abstract: Several influential people in the popular and academic discourse, especially since the heyday of the Internet boom years, have claimed the arrival of a digital world. A world in which there is universal access to the technologies of and information from the Internet. This article is a critique of the impending " digital world " myth. It explores this issue by analyzing the data about the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICTs). The cluster analysis categorizes and compares several different grouping of countries for various ICTs. The article argues that there is compelling evidence to suggest that the global digital divide is here to stay.
